Gluten-Free Dental Care

Whether you’re newly diagnosed or have had celiac disease for a while, it’s important to consider your dental care needs. While gluten cannot be absorbed through the skin, anything used on the mouth or ingested should be gluten free, including toothpaste, fluoride and floss.

If you are newly diagnosed with celiac disease here are a few tips:

Talk with your dentist

  • Inform your dentist that you have celiac and have them check the products they use for your cleaning are gluten free, especially fluoride.

Talk with your orthodontist

  • Gluten can even be found in orthodontic retainers. So be sure to inform all of your dental providers you have celiac disease.
