London Tasting Event: Sonny’s Fast Food
Whether you’re out an about, looking for a quick lunch close to work or in the midst of a long travel day, one of the hardest parts about living with celiac is finding something quick and easy to eat. There isn’t always time to sit at a restaurant that has safe gluten-free options and usually the only alternative to that is to find gluten-free snacks at the supermarket and piece them together to make a “meal” that often leaves us hungry an hour later. In come Sonny’s, a soon to be 100% gluten-free fast food restaurant (and hopefully chain!).
This past weekend I went to Sonny’s tasting event in London, UK where I got to try the delicious menu items. It was an event open to anyone and you can purchase a ticket online. If there is another one before their official opening I highly recommend going!
The menu is a mix of sandwiches, chicken bites, french fries (AKA chips), sweet potato fries and bowls. They even have a few vegan options, which are pictured below. I did not try any of the sandwiches with meat or the chicken but it looked tasty. It’s a healthier take on fast food and is absolutely delicious. The bread is a dream and did NOT fall apart… a celiac’s dream. This is a huge step for the celiac and gluten-free community! Now, we just need them to pop up here in the U.S.!
