Gluten-Free Massachusetts

I’ve lived in Massachusetts all my life, except for when I was studying Nutrition & Dietetics at the University of New Hampshire. Growing up close to Boston has been amazing. There is so much to see and do and the food scene is amazing. It hasn’t always been a great place for gluten-free eats, but over the years more and more options have popped up. I’m only including places I have personally been to, but I would love to hear what places I’ve missed in the comments!

Verveine Cafe & Bakery

Verveine Cafe & Bakery (100% GF)

I think about this place EVERY single day and then I think how it’s probably a good thing that I don’t live super close because I would be there on a daily basis. Verveine is a newer bakery in the Boston area. I have been several times now and every single time I’ve been it’s PACKED, especially on the weekends. While this might be somewhat annoying, it makes me happy that so many people are supporting gluten-free businesses, even people who don’t follow a gluten-free diet! They offer breakfast options, lunch options and many baked good items. The ‘ube brownie’ is a MUST! Also, I believe they just started doing pizza nights, which I think you need to sign up before hand on their website. I’m dying to try it!

Twist Bakery & Cafe

Violette Gluten Free Bakery (100% GF) (Cambridge)

Located in Cambridge, MA Violette is a great place to stop for a quick snack or pastry. They also make cakes for events which is awesome. Their grilled cheese was so cheesy and delicious. I also really liked the spinach empanadas. You can also purchase a lot of their items frozen to take home.

Kane’s Donuts

Kane’s Donuts

Kane’s Donuts

Kane’s Donuts is not a 100% donut shop, however, they are extremely knowledgeable and take proper precautions. They launched their GF donuts in 2014 after years of working to perfect it. All of their GF donuts (KGF) are made in a dedicated gluten-free kitchen where zero gluten items are made. Their KGF line of gluten-free donuts is free of three major allergens: gluten, dairy and nuts. They even have seasonal specials. You can check out all their GF donuts here.
